From the south:
Please note: Please take extra care whilst the A1 changes are under way.
These directions have changed to take account of the new A1 link which takes traffic round the east side of Ferrybridge and away from Danewalk.
Heading North on the A1, take the new exit just past Darrington, signposted "South Milford & local non-motorway traffic". The new flyover takes you over the new A1, and joins back into what was the old A1 at the M62 & Ferrybridge Services junction. This road is now designated the A162. Continue North, keep to the left-hand lane past the Pontefract and Ferrybridge junctions, with the Ferrybridge cooling towers on your left. The section over the bridge is coned, so keep to the right past the Ferrybidge exit and cross the bridge over the river Aire.
As you descend from the top of the bridge, you will see two exit roads very close together, in fact sharing the same sliproad. The first is signposted Brotherton, DON'T take this one but do take the one immediately after that, signposted South Milford & Sherburn. This road immediately crosses over the A162 to a tiny traffic island in Byram. Go straight across but slow right down as our entrance is just a few yards on the left.
From the north:
Heading South on the A1, take junction 42, signposted A63 and "Byram & Brotherton". Head East towards Selby, at the next roundabout
turn right onto the A162.
Follow this road to Brotherton, past the Car Auctions & the Fox pub, where there is a small traffic island.
Cross the traffic island and we are about 150 yards on the right hand side. If you see a zebra crossing, you've just gone too far. Watch for our sign on your right:
We share an entrance with Byram Community Centre, so drive slowly into the entrance as there is a kids playground. Turn sharp right down the slope and Danewalk is right at the bottom of the drive. Immediately before the entrance gate we have a neighbour, please do not disturb them as they have no connection with Danewalk, and please drive slowly past their driveway as they may be exercising their own dogs.
If the gate is open, park in the yard and at reception, if no-one is there, press the buzzer to announce your arrival.
When leaving Danewalk, once again please keep your speed down, some drivers are in such a hurry they are oblivious to the danger to animals and children. Thank you!
